Carbon-Supported Trimetallic Catalysts (PdAuNi/C) for Borohydride Oxidation Reaction

The synthesis of palladium-based trimetallic catalysts via a facile and scalable procedure was shown to yield highly promising materials for borohydride-based fuel cells, which are attractive use in compact environments. This, thereby, provides route more environmentally friendly energy storage generation systems. Carbon-supported were herein prepared by three different routes: using NaBH4-ethylene glycol complex (PdAuNi/CSBEG), NaBH4-2-propanol (PdAuNi/CSBIPA), three-step (PdAuNi/C3-step). Notably, PdAuNi/CSBIPA yielded dispersed alloy particles, as determined XRD, EDX, ICP-OES, XPS, TEM. activity the borohydride oxidation reaction assessed cyclic voltammetry RDE-based procedures, with results referenced Pd/C catalyst. A number exchanged electrons close eight obtained PdAuNi/C3-step (7.4 7.1, respectively), while others, PdAuNi/CSBEG Pd/CSBIPA, presented lower values, 2.8 1.2, respectively. direct borohydride-peroxide cell employing catalyst anode attained power density 47.5 mW cm?2 at room temperature, elevation temperature 75 °C led an approximately four-fold increase 175 cm?2. Trimetallic this have significant potential future development.
